A Professional Text, Content, & Book Editing Service
BOOK EDITING / NON-FICTION
The publishing business is tough. Many more books are written than ever make it into print. Whether you’re planning on finding an agent or going the self-publishing route, you need to be sure your book is edited and proofed well. We have years of experience editing and proofreading hundreds of books for publication. Please check our Testimonials and list of Published Clients.
Book editing and book proofreading are very demanding skills that require book editors to read every single word individually—focusing on diction choice—while also considering each sentence, paragraph, topic, and idea, both individually and in relation to the entire book.
Non-fiction books generally involve a concept expressed in a thesis that states a case and sub-theses or sub-sections that develop that case. Non-fiction books absolutely must have a rock solid foundation and structure upon which to build that thematic case. Since our editors are all PhDs, they have all written—and many have published—their dissertations, which are highly structured, rigorously developed, thoroughly supported, and flawlessly proofread non-fiction books. This kind of background makes Edit911.com’s text editing service well-versed in what it takes to: a) formulate a concept, b) compose a thesis, c) perform due diligence by researching and fact checking, and d) copyedit and proofread an intellectually challenging, analytically satisfying, and ultimately convincing book.
As we are all published authors, our book editors are experienced with the entire content editing and publishing process. We will check all the grammar and punctuation, while retaining and sharpening your intended argument and ensuring your structure and organization are polished for maximum effect.
For no additional charge, when we edit and proof your book we also will evaluate its content. No other book editing service will give you this valuable courtesy for free. When we return your edited book to you, it will have evaluative comments in the margins. In addition, we will include the following checklist as a separate file, completely filled out with professional, doctorate level commentary by your editor.
- Is your book too short or too long, and, if so, why?
- Does it have any major organization or structural problems?
- Have you missed any key ingredients or not sufficiently developed any topics?
- Are your points clear, crisp, and convincing?
- Is any of your research flawed, illogical, or in need of greater depth, recency, or relevancy?
- Are there any clichés or stilted writing that weaken your case?
- Does your book demonstrate the elements and balance of ethos, logos, and pathos (the Greek Triad) essential to successful rhetorical writing?
- Could your book attract an agent and/or publishing company? If not, why not?
- Is there anything else at all that you, as the author, could do to improve it?
